Frequently Asked Questions

What is a sidereal print?+
A sidereal print is an image of the stars directly overhead at a moment of your choosing — a representation of the state of the heavens at a specific time and place, and a beautiful way to commemorate an important life event.
How accurate are your sidereal prints?+
Extremely accurate. We generate every map from the NASA WISE (Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer) astronomical catalog, the same data professional astronomers use. Each map is then reviewed by a qualified astronomer before proofs are sent.
What sizes are available?+
We offer four sizes: 12×12", 16×16", 20×20", and 28×28". All prints come framed with premium black wood frames, museum-quality matte paper, and plexiglass.
What is the print quality?+
We use 250 gsm archival matte paper with premium wooden frames and plexiglass glazing. Prints are produced by Gelato, a global print-on-demand leader, at the facility nearest your shipping address.
How long does shipping take?+
After you approve your proofs, production and shipping typically take 7–14 business days depending on your location. Prints are produced at the Gelato facility closest to you for faster delivery.
Do you ship internationally?+
Yes! We ship to over 30 countries worldwide. Shipping is included in the price. Select your country at checkout to confirm availability.
Can I customize the text on my print?+
Yes. During the moment creation step you can add a custom label, the location name, and choose how the date and time are displayed on your print.
What is your return policy?+
Because every print is custom-made, we cannot accept returns for change of mind. If your print arrives damaged or differs materially from the approved proof, contact us within 14 days for a reprint or refund.
How do I check my order status?+
Visit the "Check your order status" link on our homepage and enter the email used at checkout. We'll send you a secure link to view your order details and tracking information.
Why does proof generation take so long?+
Unlike sites that generate simple catalog prints — dots plotted from a star database — we produce actual imagery from NASA data archives. Rendering real astronomical data for your specific sky is an intensive process that takes roughly an hour before your proofs are ready for review. It takes a little longer, but you’ll see the difference the moment you unbox it.
What is NASA WISE data?+
WISE (Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer) is a NASA space telescope that mapped the entire sky. Its catalog contains hundreds of millions of objects with precise positions and brightness measurements. We use this data to plot every star on your print accurately.
Who reviews my sidereal print?+
A qualified astronomer reviews every map before proofs are sent. They check image quality, retune the rendering as needed, verify field accuracy, and review the objects that appear in your print.
What if I don't like my proof?+
If something isn't right — a typo, wrong date, or layout concern — let us know and we'll regenerate your proof at no extra charge, up to three revisions. If we still can't get it right, we'll issue a full refund. We won't print until you're happy.
What if I don't respond to my proof?+
We'll send you an email when your proof is ready for review. If we haven't heard back after 2 days, we'll send a reminder. If there's still no response after 5 days, we'll approve the proof on your behalf and send it to print so your order isn't held up indefinitely.
How long from order to delivery?+
Typical timeline: 1–2 business days for proof generation and astronomer review, then you approve at your pace. After approval, printing and shipping take 7–14 business days. Most customers receive their print within 2–3 weeks of ordering.
